The Mole-cricket is an unusual species which cannot be mistaken for any other European species of Orthoptera. The body is brown with a dense, velvety covering of small hairs. The fore legs are strong and adapted for digging. The species burrows in soil, and feeds on earthworms, insects and other small animals. It does not occur naturally in Norway, but has been found introduced with plants a few times.
