The Rattle Grasshopper is easily recognized by its bright red hind wings. The name derives from the rattling sound produced by the male when it flies. The species occurs in warm, sun-exposed localities in the Østlandet and Sørlandet regions. It is rare and local in Norway, and seems to be in decline.
