Metrioptera roeselii is a relatively small, compact bush-cricket. The colours vary, but the side of the pronotum is always broadly bordered with pale, and the hind femur has a comb-like black marking. The species prefers moist meadow-habitats with tall vegetation. It has been recorded in Norway once, in 2016.
