The Common Field Grasshopper is a medium sized species with very variable colouration. It is very similar to the Bow-winged Grasshopper, but they can easily be distinguished in the field by the song. The species occurs in many types of grassland, but mainly in somewhat dry fields with sparse vegetation. The species is widely distributed and common in Southern Norway north to Nord-Trøndelag County.
