The forest Grasshopper is a relatively large grasshopper with strongly reduced wings. The males are usually brightly coloured with black in combination with yellow, red and/or blue. The females are usually more uniformly brownish. The species typically occurs in somewhat dry woodland situations, and also in the Alpine zone. It is widely distributed but not particularly common in Norway.
